Recipe Instructions

At home:
Cut up the apples and put them in a bag with the next 3 ingredients listed (cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar). For the Dumpling Mix put the Bisquick, and the next 6 ingredients listed in another bag (baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, milk powder and nuts).

In camp:
Soak apples in pot with water (first quantity listed). Add butter and bring to boil. Cook 5 minutes. Meanwhile put dumpling mix in another pot with water (second quantity listed) and stir. (You don't want the batter runny, nor too thick.) This works best with two pots for the cooking, so divide hot apples into two of the largest pots. Spoon dumpling batter evenly onto hot apples. Simmer with lid on for at least 10-15 minutes before peeking to see if batter is cooked through. (Do not undercook.) Serve dumpling with apples.
