Mac and Cheese, Backcountry (JY)

Macaroni, dry

REPLACE Cheese

milk, dry powder
0.3 cup(s)
salt and pepper, to taste

Bacon bits (or veggie alternative)
2.0 fluid ounce(s)
Butter / Margarine
1.0 tablespoon(s)

Recipe Instructions

Instructions:

Before you leave:
-Pack ingredients in separate zip-top bags.

In camp:
1. Boil macaroni noodles until al dente, drain most of water, but leave enough to make a sauce with powdered milk and butter or oil.
2. On low heat, in THE SAME pot, stirring so it doesn't burn, add diced or shredded cheese in batches, stirring until fully combined and smooth.
3. Mix in any additions, (like bacon bits, or rehydrated dried veggies). -
4. Add salt and pepper to taste.
5. Remove from heat and serve.

Note:
- You can use Ramen noodles in place of elbow macaroni, to shorten cooking time.
- Can use gluten free pasta or ramen noodles.
